The purpose of this article is to inform parents and
guardians of the importance of self-esteem in their
children. The article defines self-esteem and relates
7 facts about how self-esteem is established and
affects children. Seventeen specific actions that
parents can take to help their children develop high
self-esteem are then discussed. The article concludes
with a list of fifty things that parents can say to
their children to praise and encourage them.
