Parent Involvement at School

The author discusses the importance of parents being involved in the school. It is suggested that parents can get involved in a lot of different ways, PTA, PTO, booster clubs, foundations, volunteering in the classroom or library, etc… Parents should let the principal and teachers know about specific interests or areas of expertise that they would be willing to demonstrate or teach in the school. The key is that by the parent getting involved it shows the student that school is important to the parent and therefore it should be important to them. I think that the message given through this article is accurate and valuable, few students, in my experience, are in academic or disciplinary trouble if their parent(s) are regulars in the school environment.
